Patterson Wins Again

One of New Zealand’s most prolific senior players, Brent Paterson, has won the New Zealand Men’s Senior Championship for a third time.

The Royal Auckland and Grange member fired rounds of 70, 72, and 75 at Hamilton Golf club to finish at one-over par for the event at Hamilton Golf Club, claiming the trophy by four shots over the defending champion Stuart Duff and Nelson’s Craig Newman.

Paterson has cemented his place as one of New Zealand’s most successful senior players and proved why as he managed to keep his composure on a final day where lots of players seemed to fall backward down the leader board.

He opened his final round with six straight pars before dropping a shot on the short par 4 seventh. His only other dropped shots came at the difficult par 3 14th where he made a double bogey.

His experience in the big moments was evident, closing the tough stretch at Hamilton Golf Club with pars to close the event out.

Paterson last won the event at Ohope International Golf Club in 2017. His other title came at Taupo Golf Club in 2013.
